Check out the steps below for a sneak peak into R&MW's ice dyeing process!

Step 1
After our kimono has been sewn, it is washed in a special bath with a chemical to open its fibers ready to take on the dye. It is then placed on rinsed and placed on the dye screen.

Step 2
Once we let the kimono to fall how it naturally wants too on the screen, we cover the fabric with ice cube.

Step 3
We now sprinkle the powder dye all over the ice cubes and fabric. We now let it sit for the ice to melt for 24 hours. As the ice melts the water pulls the dye powder through the fabric fibres.

Step 4
24 hours later - we take the dye soaked kimono and give it a really good wash. We hang it to dry - and Ta-da! A unique ice dyed kimono!
